We are so grateful for the helping hands and generous hearts who helped make the One Love Skate equipment dinner so successful at Waipuna Chapel last week.

We’re thankful for the connection with Reps & Coaches from 5 of the 6 different skatepark communities in Maui and several of their family members! We’re thankful especially that it led to great ministry the next day!

One of our friends who attended referenced the quote: “If you succeed in ministry and fail at home, you fail in ministry.” It was hard to hear during some parts of the night because of the next generation’s noise, but he pointed out that the “chaos was worth the tradeoff” having so many kids present and even celebrating our buddy Turner’s birthday as part of the evening!

Can you fail at home and succeed at ministry? We’re thankful to be moving forward “close to home” with skateparks, schools, & speaking opportunities through One Love Skate ’ohana.

Special thanks to Bella from King Kekaulike One Love Club for making a great “Kahoot” that gamified learning our One Love Skate values and fun facts about skateboarding. We reflected with board members, saw some skateboard skills demonstrated, prayed together, heard great music, received great prizes, made custom hats, ate excellent food, received new “back pocket role cards” for Reps, Coaches, & Junior Skate Coaches, and we heard some excellent testimonies about how God’s using One Love Skate.

As part of chapel curriculum and our ongoing discipleship process at a middle school on Maui, we have 12 One Love Student Leaders who studied Mark 10:15 together Monday and led their friends in prayer after chapel - “Truly I tell you, anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it.”

As we focus on ‘ohana this week from 1 John 3:1 and we work on our ollies, we’re thankful for the stories that were shared and that weren’t shared as we know God’s love and show God’s love through One Love Skate. We’re all learning to be more childlike without being childish.

Thank you for all of your prayers, financial, & relational support that help @oneloveskate equip leaders to share love, kindness, & care (the One Love of Jesus) on Maui.
